On Thursday May 28th, 2009, the National Gallery and its Foundation celebrated the opening of the highly anticipated summer exhibition - From Raphael to Carracci: The Art of Papal Rome with its presenting sponsor, Sun Life Financial.

The painting St. Julian Hospitaller by Perino del Vaga has been restored thanks to the generous support of Alenia North America, a Finmeccanica Company as part of the exhibition From Raphael to Carracci: The Art of Papal Rome.

The NGC is proud to present the largest exhibition to date devoted to one of the finest abstract painters of today, American artist Thomas Nozkowski, thanks to the generous support of the Embassy of the United States of America.

In conjunction with the opening of From Raphael to Carracci exhibition, NGC Foundation patrons enjoyed a private concert by the Accademia Barocca di Santa Cecilia di Roma on May 28th, 2009.  This superb event was made possible thanks to the Italian Embassy and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada.

Ron Mueck exhibition opening. To mark its 10th anniversary, the Foundation chose to support the exhibition Ron Mueck, which drew over 83,000 visitors to the Gallery from March 2nd to May 6th, 2007. The exhibition would inspire art collectors F. Harvey Benoit and Dr. Lynne Freiburger-Benoit to support the acquisition of one of the sculptures, A Girl.
